The experience of minorities, and hence their identity, is rarely uncomplicated; this is especially so of Protestantism (in its various expressions) in the Republic of Ireland. In the first in an occasional series of articles Dr Walsh presents a selection of stories describing experiences of, or relating to, the Protestant minority in the Republic. These have been gathered as part of a research project which has taken place over the last ten years.
