Church Mission Society Ireland has reported that all its mission partners in Nepal are safe following Saturday’s earthquake which at time of writing had killed at least 3,200 people.

A number of Connor parishes have links with a church in the capital Kathmandu which does vital work with disabled and able-bodied people. Canon Stuart Lloyd, rector of St Patrick’s, Ballymena, and other from the parish have visited the SD Church on many occasions.

And last January, a team of six from St Patrick’s, Coleraine, and St Brigid’s, Glengormley, spent two weeks in Nepal , leading seminars at SD Church, attending services, and also visiting a nearby Leprosy Colony.

The CMSI website reported on Saturday: “CMSI’s Mission Director, Jenny Smyth, spoke with one of our friends from SD Church. The family and church leaders etc are all safe, as is the SD centre. But there are lots of destroyed buildings around them and aftershocks were still coming. They asked for prayers for them as a family, for the church folk and for those they work with.
