World War I Seminar in St Patrick’s
Next Tuesday evening the Irish Society for Archives and St Patrick’s cathedral, Dublin, will host, in the cathedral, ‘Hidden Pages from World War I’ – a seminar exploring new archival sources on soldiers and civilians recounted by the curators who discovered them.

Nicky Ralston (National Library), Noelle Dowling (Dublin Diocesan Archivist), Andrew Whiteside (Archivist of Kilkenny College),, Susan Hood (RCB Library) and Andrew Smith (St Patrick’s cathedral) will tell their stories and the proceedings will be chaired by Bryan Dobson from RTE News. There will also be an opportunity to visit the cathedral’s ‘Lives Remembered’ exhibition.

The evening begins with a reception at 7pm followed by the presentations at 7.30pm and all are welcome.

This weekend the Bishop of Sodor and Man, the Rt Revd Robert Patterson, is visiting the diocese of Cashel & Ossory. This morning (Saturday), in St Canice’s Chapter House, Bishop Patterson will launch a new CD prepared by Cumann Gaelach na hEaglaise to encourage and resource the singing of a new range of hymns in Irish and this evening (Saturday) he and the Bishop of Cashel & Ossory will take part in a bilingual Eucharist on …read more
