What Stephen and Marlene did next

The Rev Dr Stephen Skuce and his wife Marlene are well known within Irish Methodist circles. An ordained minister, Stephen first served on the Portadown District before becoming Superintendent of the Ballinamallard Circuit in County Fermanagh. Since those days they have taken the concept of itinerancy and lifelong learning to a whole new level, assuming a wide range of roles in the process. Currently, Marlene is in her final year of training to become a deacon while Stephen has recently been appointed Director of Scholarship, Research and Innovation in the British Methodist Church.

In the December Methodist Newsletter Stephen talks to Lynda Neilands about this exciting new chapter of life – a conversation in which depth and strength of their Irish Methodist roots is very clear. It’s a timely article, especially as Marlene has agreed to lead the next Ministers’ Spouses’ Retreat to be held in Dublin at the end of April 2015.
