Jesus wants his followers to be of one heart & mind

Read the scriptures below

Jesus prayed that his followers would be one, so that the world would know that God had sent him. He commanded his followers to love each another, as he loved us, so that all people would know that they are his followers.

If we are to reach Ireland for God and see people turn to Jesus, we must work together and love each other, as Jesus said. Here is what the scriptures say:

One heart and mind

‘My prayer for all of them is that they will be of one heart and mind, just as you and I are, Father – that just as you are in me and I am in you, so they will be in us, and the world will believe you sent me.’
– Jesus (John 17:21 TLB)

‘I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.’
– Jesus (John 17:23)

Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common.
Acts 4:32

Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.
1 Peter 3:8

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.
Philippians 2:1-3

Love for each another

By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
– Jesus (John 13:35)

And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
Colossians 3:14

No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
1 John 4:12

Brothers in the Faith

Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!
Psalms 133:1

‘But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brothers.’

Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honour.
Romans 12:10

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labour is not in vain.
1 Corinthians 15:58

May the God of peace be with you all. Amen.

The Body of Christ

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptised into one body – Jews or Greeks, slaves or free – and all were made to drink of one Spirit.

For the body does not consist of one member but of many.

If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honoured, all rejoice together.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

No divisions

‘If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.’

Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.
