In a new initiative to help parishes in the Republic to care for their environment, Tearfund Ireland have agreed an affinity rate with Bord Gáis Energy for the supply of gas and lower carbon electricity. The company produces electricity via its gas–powered plant at Whitegate, Co. Cork. Larger churches can avail of an energy audit (subject to qualifying criteria) and for every church that takes part, Bord Gáis Energy will make a small contribution towards Tearfund’s work.
